HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii’s lone Republican Senator Sam Slom says tests he had at a hospital after he was taken there on Friday were unremarkable.
Slom’s chief of staff Kathryn Higa says he was taken to The Queen’s Medical Center by ambulance right after the Senate floor session.
In a statement issued Friday night, Slom says his doctors told him the tests were unremarkable. Slom adds that he will be staying overnight to “sample hospital cuisine and avoid doing dishes.”
The statement adds: “Sen. Slom thanks everyone for their concern and well-wishes and is planning to be back to work at the State Capitol next week. “
Higa says Slom headed to the hospital shortly after voting no on a bill about transporting sand onto beaches.
